Artist Statement
I am a Brooklyn based filmmaker and podcaster with a growing interest in video art. My work fundamentally engages with process, community, and collaboration both in form and content. The relationships between disparate works and remixing of narratives are a thread I pursue in many of my practices. My approach to art whether film, video, or podcast directly engages with my passion for education. I am as eager to support my fellow artists as I am to explore my own work.

This course explored the use of editing as an essential storytelling tool for students in the Directing MPS program. Going beyond the technical aspects of filmmaking the class explored the relationship between Editor and Director and highlighted the theories behind editing as part of the film storytelling process. Students worked with an editor on their thesis film and engaging with that process and receiving notes from myself as the instructor of this course and the Department Head, Bob Giraldi, and incorporating them into the final thesis project were essential to the course. Adapted the class mid-semester 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
BRIC Arts Media (2018, 2019-2020)
Black Box Filmmaking
The Black Box Filmmaking program was a hybridization of film and stage production to teach students the fundamentals of film crew roles. During the 2018 cohort I served as the Production Mentor for students guiding the team tasked with Production Manager, Assistant Director, and related roles. In 2019, I assumed leadership of the program working on the selection of submitted plays to produce, reviewing the applicants to the cohort, and redeveloping the curriculum in response to feedback on the previous year and the acquisition of new equipment. The program was disrupted in 2020 by the COVID-19 pandemic, but I adapted the program to accommodate a remote workflow and students still produced the film that they had been developing when lockdowns began.
Patton Veterans’ Project (2013-2017)
I Was There Film Workshops
Served as an instructor for and leader of groups of instructors for film as art therapy workshops for soldiers, veterans, and first responders with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injuries. Participated in the development and refinement of the curriculum for workshops consisting of four half day sessions dedicated to introducing participants to basic film concepts and then shepherding them through a simple production process in small groups to create a film shown at a screening on the end of the final session. Projects were not required to address any therapeutic needs a participant may have but served as an opportunity for participants to use the power of story and the inherent collaborative nature of film to explore any topic they felt the need to. Workshops were most often conducted in secure facilities including military bases and therapeutic centers, which required a high level of sensitivity from all team members to safety and security needs.
