Bio

I graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage in May of 2005 with Bachelors’ Degree in English Literature with a Minor in Psychology. In August 2009 I graduated from New York Film Academy’s One Year Screenwriting Conservatory Program.

Previously, I worked in the consulting field. First, I worked for a small Alaska Human Resources Consulting firm, then I moved on to Software consulting. I served as Product and Sales Support for PeopleMatter, Inc., which soon became the PeopleMatter Division of Capital H Group, and then OpenEngage, LLC. During that time I also grew into the role of Lead Quality Assurance Tester. I have experience working with peoples at all levels of an organization from Human Resources and Technical Staff all the way up to the Executive Level. I most recently worked for Computer Task Group as Business Analyst, Quality Assurance Tester, and Change Management Specialist. I flex in every position I take to meet the needs of the organization. In all of my employment I seek new challenges and to expose myself to the unfamiliar.

I also earned high level organizational experience during my five-year tenure as a member of the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood of Alaska. During my time there the organization grew from approximately a half a million dollar budget to over two million dollars. Also during that time the organization weened itself off of much of its Government funding, formed a 501(c)4 Corporation, added a clinic in Fairbanks, and began plans for a Juneau clinic. I also actively participated in the search and hiring committee for a new CEO in 2004. During my time there I gained a strong sense of high level organizational and budgetary concerns and gained valuable visioning and organizational goal setting skills.

It’s my intention to use the variety of experiences I have collected to shape my approach to being a screenwriter and filmmaker. I want to approach filmmaking with flexibility and take on whatever roles in the process are interesting and challenging. I value learning by doing, which is why I chose to attend the New York Film Academy with its hands-on teaching style. Only a few months out of school I have already started exposing myself to new aspects of the industry. I am working on a fundraiser for completion funds for an independent feature film. I have worked as a Production Assistant on a shoot and have made a commitment to work as a Production Assistant on another project in December 2009. In addition to this much of my free time is spent learning filmmaking by working with a small team to actually write and produce shorts. As of November 2009 we have written and shot four shorts, including one entry into Filmaka.com‘s Race Against The Clock contest and an entry in the Brooklyn Film Race.
